MARSH RECEIVES AWARD FROM STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA “OUTSTANDING REFUGEE EMPLOYMENT”
Marsh Furniture Company and Bill Bumgarner, Human Resources Manager at Marsh, were honored by North Carolina State Refugee officials and were presented the award for “Outstanding Refugee Employment”.

Bill Bumgarner has worked closely with the High Point, NC office of World Relief (http://www.wr.org) in assisting refugees fleeing religious and political persecution to resettle here in the United States.
The NC Refugee program focuses on expediting the resettlement process, quickly reducing dependence on public assistance, locating gainful employment, acquiring English language skills, and achieving self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Marsh has participated in several resettlement programs providing employment to refugees for over nine years. One of the most recent programs from World Relief has been the Sudan Lost Boys Resettlement. Marsh has hired refugees from Bosnia, Vietnam, Liberia, the Congo, and the Sudan. Out of a current work force of 700 there are nearly 60 refugees. Many have advanced to higher paying positions with more responsibility from entry level positions. Marsh co-workers consider these people as a very positive contribution to the workforce at Marsh Furniture Company.
